The Simple Way to Win Your Dreams

The Key

Observate. It’s a word. I looked it up because I really wanted it to be a word so it would fit in my rhyme.

Observate. Celebrate. Accelerate.

Why do I emphasize this so much?

Because this is how you magic momentum out of thin air.

People will ask me, “how on earth is your life moving forward so fast and you’re picking up speed?”

November 12, 2015, I was preparing to take my life. Again. If they had they coffee punch cards for suicidal ideations, where you have 10 plans, get the 11th for free, I would have several cards saved up.

It was terrible.

It was this constant cycle of...

  • Event happens
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Impulsive decision to figure out what’s next

After you’ve done this enough times, you back yourself into a corner devoid of options.

The Podcast

The good thing is that a few months ahead of November 12th, I had started listening to podcasts. I got an iPhone 6+ since I had thought that was the only way to listen to podcasts.

I started listening to “The Art of Manliness.” Then moved onto “The Art of Charm.”

Thank God Facebook creeps on my habits. By the time I had gotten to November 12, the ads on my Facebook had changed from games to self improvement ads.

In particular, Brendon Burchard.

I had known Brendon back at the University of Montana. I clicked on the ad and my old friend started talking, “Hey everyone! It’s Brendon Burchard. I’ve partnered with the Oprah Winfrey network…”

I stopped the video. I was amazed and flabbergasted. To me, Brendon had made it. Here he was, teaming with the Oprah Winfrey network. He was successful.

That night, instead of attempting to take my life, I spent most of my savings to purchase his course.

What I learned set up the foundation to change my life.

Brendon said that high performers celebrate their wins to generate momentum so they can successfully face their next challenge.

Over the last few years, I’ve really worked with this process.

Here’s the cycle I’ve used to benefit myself and my tribe.

First, Observe your wins. And from now on, there is no such thing as a “little” win. We will not diminish our wins. We use words to honor and uplift what’s happening in our lives.

Then, Celebrate your wins. It doesn’t necessarily mean eating steak dinners or throwing confetti with every victory in your life.

Steak dinners can get expensive quickly. And confetti can be messy. And if you’re doing both at once, you might get confused and throw the steaks or get pieces of confetti on your steak. Of course, I’m kidding. But the point is that a celebration can be as simple as a cheer or a little dance.

Lastly, Accelerate. Take that energy from your celebration and use it to fuel your next project.

Not every day is going to be a gold star day. You’re going to have days where you feel crappy. Tired. Unmotivated.

We’ve all felt these things before. They’re part of the cycle. And since we know that they’re coming, we can account for it.

By celebrating our wins, no matter how big or small, we create that energy to break the energy slump. Or we can use that energy to accomplish our next big goal.

Either way, it's about moving the needle of your life in a positive direction!

Observate. Celebrate. Accelerate.
